Hey All 👋 - I’m not sure if everyone reads the [release notes](https://github.com/directus/directus/releases), and appreciate they are sometimes a little overwhelming so wanted to provide a more human summary here of the key things shipped, and to open discussion/feedback on any topic.

**WYSIWYG Editor - Tiptap replaces TinyMCE**

The WYSIWYG interface has run on TinyMCE for years. As of this release, it now runs on Tiptap instead. Keeping TinyMCE up to date with security patches had become something we could no longer sustain. It’s also something a lot of you have asked for in the past - or built interface extensions that use Tiptap already.

The main thing to be aware of is how we handle your existing content. If a field contains HTML the new editor would rewrite, it locks to read-only and shows you exactly what would change before you can edit - nothing gets touched until you confirm. That’s deliberate: we’d rather stop you for a second than quietly rewrite your content. Full details here: [Version 12](https://directus.com/docs/releases/breaking-changes/version-12)

**Partial Schema Snapshot & Configuration Sync (API)**

This one is in preparation for the previously shared RFC around a new CLI for helping with “Environment Synchronization” - see [Directus Environment Sync RFC](https://community.directus.com/t/directus-environment-sync-rfc/2362)

The CLI will ship in the next few days, but the API changes were shipping in this release were foundational, and can still be useful on their own - they directly address something many of you have told us for years: the schema snapshot endpoints being all-or-nothing makes them painful for real SDLC workflows across dev, staging and production.

Key new things:

- **Scoped snapshots.** You can now take a snapshot of just the collections you care about via new `includeCollections` / `excludeCollections` params - no more dragging your whole data model along.
- **Safer diffs with a new `merge` mode.** The schema diff endpoint now accepts a `mode` parameter. The default (`mirror`) behaves as today - `merge` is additive-only: it never removes collections, fields or relations from the target.
- **Batch import for configuration data -** Schema snapshots have never covered things like flows or presets that live as items rather than schema. You can now import that data across multiple collections in one operation, with a dry-run preview.

The API Reference has been updated here:

**JSON Filtering in the Studio**

New function option under any JSON type field that accepts a used-defined path, operator and value. See below.

**Configurable save behaviour for saving item data**

New configuration in settings dictates default behaviour when saving an item in a collection. This links back to a long-standing Github request: [Allow "save and stay" to be the default save button action · directus/directus · Discussion #4081 · GitHub](https://github.com/directus/directus/discussions/4081)

This puts it in your hands to determine the desirable behaviour.
