We are building a headless digital platform in the hospitality space. The stack includes Directus as the central data platform, Next.js for the public website, a custom booking engine, integrations with PMS / channel manager systems, and a guest app / web app for guest experience and automations.

We are looking for someone who can think in terms of architecture, scalability, security, and maintainability, not just implementation.

Hi @mauroman, interested — this is my main area of work.

I’ve been building Directus in production for 2+ years, have merged contributions to Directus core (v11.x), and have three published Marketplace extensions: khanahmad4527 (Ahmad Khan) · GitHub

Closest relevant work: a 7-language e-commerce platform on Directus + Remix with Stripe checkout, and a community platform on Directus with real-time messaging and Stripe subscriptions. Frontend side I work in React Router 7 / Remix rather than Next.js, but it’s the same data-loading model.

Happy to send rate expectations and a phase-one scope directly — I’d suggest starting with a short paid architecture sprint before anyone estimates a build, since the booking engine needs its transaction and locking model settled first.

Hi Mauro — this is exactly the kind of platform I run in production today, so I’d like to be considered.

Directus, in production, on the latest release. Across four platforms I’ve shipped 500+ collections, 600+ API endpoints and 300+ Flows on Directus 12 + PostgreSQL:

  • api.romanceinroom.com — 200+ collections, 100+ endpoints, 50+ Flows, 18 custom extensions (API gateway, auth, pg_trgm search, orders, payments, ERP, dropship, push); Flutter apps on the App Store and Play Store.
  • dev.mdbaudio.com / team.mdbaudio.com — booking platform + team operations, 210+ collections, Next.js front end that is 100% editable in the Directus Visual Editor; two-way Google Calendar ↔ Directus sync. Received a Directus Innovation Grant.
  • Keyprog — B2B/B2C e-commerce on Directus + Next.js + Stripe, Visual Editor storefront.
  • Monospace — the instances above plus external PostgreSQL databases unified in one workspace, operated by AI agents via MCP.

On your “required” list: collections/relations/roles/policies/ACLs, REST, GraphQL and SDK, Flows, webhooks and hooks, endpoint and interface extensions, headless/API-first with Next.js — all of it is daily work, not a side skill. I also published @staminna/directus-mcp-server (npm, 29+ tools, 97%+ coverage), which I use to model every schema I ship.

On booking specifically: the transaction and locking model is the part I’d settle first. On Romance in Room I already run it: atomic, filtered reservations so concurrent events can’t double-book, idempotent payment webhooks that never trust the callback alone (status re-confirmed with the provider, amount checked, anti-replay, fail-safe reconciliation job), and a full order state machine with notifications at every transition. Same pattern maps directly to rooms, rates and PMS / channel-manager sync.

Security and audit trails: three years at the European Central Bank (CSP hardening, rights administration, auditable logging of every CMS operation), SOC 2 / ISO 27001 delivery at Co2Offset, audit trail aligned with ISO/IEC 42001 on my current platform.
